Geological Survey of Israel goals in Mediterranean research:

Study the geo-marine natural processes in the Israeli offshore that are relevant to national near future challenges in the marine environment and advising the government on all aspects of marine geoscience (e.g. in the frame of the development of infrastructure and its interaction with the marine natural environment; natural and human-caused marine-geohazards; planning of sustainable development of natural resources).

On-going marine-research at the Geological Survey of Israel:

• Amit Mushkin, Oded Katz, Onn Crouvi, Annual monitoring, retreat rate and sediment budget of the Israeli coastal cliff.
• Itay J. Reznik, Yoav Oved Rosenberg, Yizhaq Makovsky, Aaron Meilijson, Mor Kanari and Assaf Giladi, Characterization of seafloor gas emanations and their potential linkage with sub-sea reservoirs in the Levant.

• Nadya Teutsch, Revital Bookman, Jack Silverman, Tracing sources, dispersal and burial of heavy metals in industrialized bays using multiple stable isotopes.
